New Delhi: The Government e Marketplace (GeM) has achieved a cumulative Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of ₹18.4 lakh crore, with GeM surpassing ₹5 lakh crore GMV in the financial year 2025–26.
This milestone underscores the growing role of GeM as a transparent, efficient, and inclusive digital public procurement platform supporting India’s public economy.
The achievement reflects how GeM has evolved into a key digital infrastructure enabling large-scale procurement across government entities.
By connecting enterprises across regions to institutional demand, GeM continues to promote economic inclusion, sustainability, and transparency in public spending while strengthening procurement efficiency.
Addressing the media, Chief Executive Officer, Government e Marketplace, Shri Mihir Kumar stated that crossing a cumulative GMV of ₹18.4 lakh crore reflects the confidence of buyers, sellers, and institutions in a transparent and technology-driven procurement ecosystem powered by GeM.

Inclusive Growth
Government e Marketplace has adopted an inclusive approach to expand participation among Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), women entrepreneurs, SC/ST enterprises, and startups.
During FY 2025–26, 68 per cent of total orders on GeM were executed by MSEs, contributing 47.1 per cent of the platform’s total GMV.
More than 11 lakh MSEs are registered on GeM, collectively receiving over 51 lakh orders worth ₹2.36 lakh crore during FY 2025–26. This represents a growth of over 20 per cent compared to the previous financial year, highlighting the expanding reach of GeM.
Women-led enterprises have also demonstrated strong participation on Government e Marketplace, with over 2.1 lakh women-led MSEs registered on the platform. These enterprises secured orders exceeding ₹28,000 crore, registering approximately 28 per cent growth.
Similarly, SC/ST MSEs on GeM received orders worth over ₹6,000 crore, reflecting around 28 per cent growth. Startups have also played a key role in the ecosystem, with GeM facilitating orders worth over ₹19,000 crore for startups during FY 2025–26, marking a growth of more than 36 per cent.
Technology-Led Transparency and Efficiency
Technology continues to be central to the functioning of Government e Marketplace, enabling improved transparency, efficiency, and integrity in procurement processes.
The platform leverages Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and advanced analytics to streamline operations.
Key technology-driven features on Government e Marketplace include ML-based catalogue validation and pre-sanity checks to reduce errors in listings, along with real-time analytics to monitor transactions and detect anomalies.
Advanced analytical tools deployed on Government e Marketplace help identify patterns such as abnormal pricing, suspected collusive bidding behaviour, technical rejection anomalies, and potential buyer–seller collusion.
System-driven mechanisms like Bid Health Scores further support decision-making and strengthen trust in the procurement ecosystem.
Growing Participation from States and UTs on GeM
Following strong adoption by Central Ministries, Departments, and Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), GeM is witnessing increasing participation from States and Union Territories.
Procurement through Government e Marketplace by States recorded a growth of 38.3 per cent during FY 2025–26, reflecting their expanding role in the platform’s growth.
The rising adoption of Government e Marketplace among States highlights enhanced confidence in its transparent and accountable procurement system, enabling deeper penetration of public procurement across regions.
